Smart Glasses & VR Headsets Initiating Us into the Uranus-Neptune Era
Meta, in partnership with Ray-Ban, released the Meta Smart Glasses in October 2023.
You can take calls, play music, and livestream just by wearing these glasses.
And next month, Apple will be releasing its Apple Vision Pro–a mixed reality headset.
The first time VR googles entered into the cultural dialogue was in 1935 with Stanley G. Weinbaum's book Pygmalion's Spectacles.
In the story, the main character, Dan Burke, met an elfin professor, Albert Ludwig, who invented a pair of goggles which enabled "a movie that gives one sight and sound [...] taste, smell, and touch. [...] You are in the story, you speak to the shadows (characters) and they reply, and instead of being on a screen, the story is all about you, and you are in it. (historyofinformation.com)"
This science fiction book was published in 1935 under a Uranus-Neptune alignment.
Uranus represents technology.
Neptune symbolizes imagination.
When these two planets come into alignment the boundaries between technology and human being dissolves and merges.
A brilliant showcase of these two archetypes coming together to interconnect (Neptune) humanity through technology (Uranus).
Currently, Uranus and Neptune are in a soft alignment until 2029. So we should be seeing and experiencing some echos of the 90s for the rest of the decade.
The smart glasses and VR headsets are an indication we're riding the technological (Uranus) wave into the realm of imagination and illusion (Neptune).
Remember, we can't find the boundaries without our stern friend Saturn.
