Happy Full Moon Monday, and welcome back to Numinous Realm.
If you're surprised to be hearing from us after many months, you may have missed our previous newsletter on the update.
Have you been feeling a feisty energy in the air? Whether you're in California actually fleeing from the wildfires or casually getting into anger-fueled encounters, you are most likely experiencing the archetypal energy of Mars-Pluto.
Mars is the archetypal warrior, and Pluto is the archetypal beast. So when these two planets align, it generally coincides with an aura of volcanic intensity.
The Mars-Pluto opposition (180º) has been a major influence over the past couple of months because Mars has been in retrograde, meaning its apparent motion in the sky is reversed. This retrograde prolongs Mars' opposition to Pluto, amplifying themes of power struggles, transformation, and repressed anger surfacing.
Retrogrades often ask us to revisit, reassess, and work through unresolved conflicts, and with Mars involved, this can manifest as internalized frustrations or challenges in asserting ourselves. The energy will shift after Mars stations direct at the end of February, allowing for forward movement and resolution of these themes.
So here is how you can participate with the profound energy of Mars-Pluto:
- Learn about Joseph Stalin. Born under a Mars-Pluto opposition, Stalin embodied the archetypal themes of relentless ambition, power struggles, and transformative conflict. His life exemplifies how the shadow side of this alignment—ruthlessness and unchecked power—can manifest on a grand scale.
- Watch Never Back Down. This 2008 film follows the plot of Jake Tyler, a troubled teen who trains in MMA to channel his anger, overcome a rival, and find redemption. Released under a Mars-Pluto opposition, the film portrays the transformative power of this planetary combination.
- Explore the style of Vivienne Westwood. The British fashion designer was born under a Mars-Pluto opposition, and developed a punk aesthetic that captures the raw, rebellious, and intense nature of the archetypal combination.

🍷 Alcohol causes cancer 🚫
As the New Year kicked off, US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy urged for cancer warnings on alcohol, highlighting its role as the third leading preventable cause of cancer in the U.S.
This shift aligns with the growing "sober curious" movement we reported on last year, tied to Saturn-Neptune world transits.
Saturn represents discipline and sobriety, while Neptune signifies escapism and addiction.
This planetary alignment fosters themes of spiritual discipline and collective renunciation—perfectly timed with the increasing scrutiny of alcohol.
We are likely to witness the unfolding of this trend as the Saturn-Neptune conjunction (0º) continues its transit until 2027.
☑️ Meta cancels fact-checking, adopts community notes 👥
Last week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company’s social media platforms will end their third-party fact-checking program and transition to a Community Notes system, mirroring the model introduced by Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter).
The fact-checking program, launched in 2016 during Trump’s first election cycle, foreshadowed the Saturn-Pluto conjunction of 2018–2021.
This alignment archetypally symbolizes rigid conservatism and a confrontation with dark forces, energies that correlated with the upheaval of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Interestingly, George Orwell’s 1984, written during a Saturn-Pluto alignment, also anticipated a similar transit in the early 1980s, reflecting themes of authoritarian control.
Meta’s use of independent fact-checkers during this period evoked comparisons to "Big Brother," sparking significant political controversy.
The shift away from this centralized model aligns with the current Uranus-Pluto alignment (active until 2032), which emphasizes "power to the masses."
Community Notes embodies this energy by returning the authority to social media users, decentralizing the role of truth arbitration and fostering collective accountability.

New Archetype Salon
Last fall I (Somya) was invited by New Archetype (a group of artists and philosophers exploring the potential of the emergence of a new archetype) to be a part of their salon series.
It was a deep and cool dialogue with the two co-hosts, Nick Shore and Layman Pascal, and fellow guest Dean Rickles (Professor of History and Philosophy of Modern Physics at the University of Sydney). Check it out:
